A "Berry" Good Lunch!

As our fridge slowly starts to fill up, I am beginning to enjoy making my lunches again. Today was a saturday, but I thought it would be nice to prepare myself something for lunchtime.

Yesterday I bought these strawberry cupcake picks and muffin "holders" from my local dollar store.

And although it was a miserable day outside, I still wanted to celebrate the coming of summer, so I based my lunch around fresh berries.

I had wonderfully delicious grapes (grapes are my favourite food, I bought two extra bags of them today) with strawberries and raspberries. I also had Kashi honey crackers with "Just Fruit" strawberry jam. Noticing my lack of sustenance I also put some almonds in my lunch and had myself a glass of vanilla almond milk (not pictured). I packed all of it in my Easy Lunchboxes pink lunchbox, and stored it in the fridge since I had no school to be at.

I am smack dab in the middle of exams right now, and my break starts in a few days, so we will see how the summer goes in terms of lunches.

The past few days...

So Friday I made this beautiful lunch for my mom, but had no time to photograph it or make a good lunch for myself (I ended up coming home to have lunch). Then the weekend came and I usually just grab random things in my house on weekends.

On Sunday night my mother and I decided it was time for a really good fridge cleaning. On monday morning I went to put together a lunch and could only come up with this. The following day was the exact same thing seeing as I really could not put a meal together with what we had left in the house. A banana, a rice cake withh some pure strawberry jam, some carrots and some strawberries.

So today I opened my fridge. My fruit drawer had only 3 lemons and a carton with three (yes count that, three) whole strawberries left. Perfect. I grabbed those. The fact that my family favours fruit meant that my vegetable drawer was a bit better "nourished" than my fruit drawer. I threw some veggies together and packed some light cucumber dressing for dip (I later realized that it contained dairy). I opened my cupboard and dug to the back to find my jar of almonds (these were a bit stale). And last but not least, sitting all by its lonesome on the second shelf in my fridge, was a jar of applesauce that I like to use for baking. I found a container and put it in there. That was my lunch for today folks.

Tomorrow I may or may not pack myself a lunch since I will be home for it. Maybe I will do it for the sake of my new blog :)

Dairy Free Day 1

So yesterday I decided I was going to go on a trial "dairy free diet" to see if it may improve my skin. So for the next few days I'm cutting out all cheese (a staple in all my lunches), and turning my head at all of the glorious greek yogurt in my fridge.

So my cheese-free lunch today consists of my home-made granola bars once again, an egg (first trial of my new egg molds), some cherries, and veggies with roasted red pepper hummus.

Pink Lunchbot!

I am using my other Lunchbots Lunchbox today. Pink Lid and all.

I wrapped cheese and lettuce in Natural Selections turkey, and cut up some flower-shaped mango (I eat the mango with the skin... I suggest trying it, it tastes very good!) along with some red grapes. Once again I'm having my home-made granola bars. The granola bars came out this time tasting amazing. The funny thing is, when I did this recipe last time it was just off the top of my head, so I decided to jot it down in my phone. This time when I went to make it, something seemed a bit off; there were plenty of "wet" ingredients to cover all of the dry ingedients (usually I need to add something else to cover it all), plus the pan seemed a bit...bigger this time. It turns out I forgot a whole-flippen cup of oats. When I wrote it down, I put 1 cup instead of 2! I ended up liking the results much better though, and I even caught my mom sneaking some! Needless to say, I am keeping the recipe as is.

Have a wonderful Wednesday...tonight go home and try out a new granola bar recipe (or at least a new recipe), you never know how it's going to turn out!

Tuesday...

My lunch today is pretty darn similar to yesterdays again. This time though, I made my granola bars myself instead of the larabar, plus I have replaced the carrots with a pear (although I didn't think this one through quite well, as pear browns as soon as you cut it).

Happy Tuesday!

Lunchbots Lunchbox!

Over the weekend I received some goodies for packing my lunches including a few different lunchboxes,  and some fun accessories for them!

As you can see today I tried out my new Lunchbots Lunchbox. It was kind of small but it fit everything I needed. My lunch consisted of Natural Selections chicken rolled up like roses, a BabyBel cheese (with a flower cut out), grapes, carrots, and a cut up (for the sake of fitting it in the lunchbox) blueberry larabar.

Saturday Iced Tea ;)

Well today is Saturday, which means no fun bento style lunch today. I know what you are thinking, "well, no posts today then"  ....right? Wrong! I am currently enjoying a very delicious drink I made myself for after my run, and I thought a little blogging was in order (I hear the icecream truck outside...just as a little side note). This was to pretty not to take a picture of!

It is David's Tea "Luscious Watermelon" tea with ice and frozen watermelon pieces, with organic agave for some sweetness.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

:)

Well today was a bit of a repeat of yesterday. Waking up a bit on the late side made me uncreative today.

I had cheese wrapped in a few slices of natural selections turkey, some red grapes, some papaya/cantaloup, and some Kashi honey crackers. I tried to have a yellow theme going on but that sort of went out the window along with my creativity.

Simple and Quick

I feel kind of silly getting so excited about packing lunches for myself considering I only have one year left in high school, but believe it or not, putting together fun lunches is kind of therapeutic in a way... plus it makes me feel like a kid again (oh how I miss childhood).

Today I'm having cheese wrapped in the last remaining slice of natural selections turkey, some papaya cut into little flowers (don't worry, I saved the edges for later), some Kashi honey crackers, and some carrots and red pepper with a bit of hummus.

First post! (Three days of lunches)

Here it goes. My first post. I recently got into the whole "bento" style lunches, so a few days ago I dug up my old elementary-style plastic lunch container and started to get a bit more creative with them. I ordered a few good lunch accessories online that should be arriving soon! Plus I even dedicated an entire drawer to my (small) collection of lunch accessories. So without further ado...
This was from three days ago. Carrots and hummus, special k cinnamon pecan cereal, slices of natural selections turkey, and a cheese string!

Yesterday it was the turkey again, with special k cereal, a cheese string, cantaloup, and applesauce with cinnamon.

And today I had carrots, cheese, melon, oikos honey greek yogurt, and a homemade (super yummy) granola bar!
